Beirut aims to crack Iraqi humanitarian market

The UN's World Food Programme is currently making use of six Middle East ports to direct relief aid through to Iraq. Lebanon has recently joined Syria, Jordan, Kuwait, Turkey and Iran after agreeing to cut several port tariffs at Beirut by 50% and abolish others completely.
Grain to Iraq
This was prompted by the realisation that its slice of the US$1.85bn six-month programme was at risk of being absorbed wholly by ports in Jordan and Syria.
