Mumbai terminal gains momentum
01 May 2005
12 companies have sought pre-qualification to build the $205m offshore container terminal at Mumbai. Among the international bidders are P&O Ports, Mitsui OSK, Dubai Port Authority, Evergreen Marine, Maersk and Hutchison Port Holdings, while L&T, United Liner Agency, Adani Ports, Gammon India and ABG Heavy Industries represent local investors.
Such was the interest in the project that the port authority had to extend the bidding deadline until 11 March with 24 companies buying the tender document.
