Transas develops simulator
01 May 2005
Transas has announced the Multi-purpose Terminal Simulator in cooperation with Kymenlaakso Polytechnic. The new product replicates tankerloading principles, while the simulation of terminal operators' and tanker cargo mates' interaction is also available. The Multi-purpose Terminal Simulator is meant primarily for educating terminal operators. The key goal of education, says Transas, is training and working out the supervisory cargo master skills.
While training, the company says, the following skills are formed: operating and terminal capacity distribution, as well as the ability to monitor and memorise all the operations occurring in the complicated pipe net of terminal systems; and to react adequately to technological and weather changes, taking the systems technical capabilities into consideration. In addition, the trainee is required to evaluate the possible consequences of personnel operations, as well as changes in the technological operation chain, plus new possibilities and limitations.
