Rotterdam's LNG plans solidify

Rotterdam's plans for supplying LNG are advancing on two fronts. Petroplus International has taken a next step in the development of an import terminal. Having planned to have the terminal operational by the end of 2009, the European oil company has presented an environmental effect report.

An investment of several hundred million euros is to go into the new terminal, which will have an initial capacity of a minimum of six billion cu metres per annum and will be expanded in phases. Guaranteed longterm agreements for throughput are one of the main conditions for the investment. There are also plans in place by a third party for a power station in Europoort - it is expected that the initiatives will be combined.
