Kalmar innovations designed to speed stacking and automation

Kalmar has developed a new heavy version of its Shuttle Carrier, the SHC 250 H. The 7g shuttle has capacity of 50 tons under the spreader and can handle twin 20-foot containers with fixed or extendable twin spreader.
“The new machine is designed to feed automatic stacking cranes in high throughput mega-terminals where the ship-to-shore crane productivity has highest priority,” says Ilkka Annala, Kalmar’s vice president, straddle carriers.
Kalmar has also expanded its automation product range by launching a new fleet control system called Fleetview, which can be used to monitor straddle carriers, reachstackers, forklifts, terminal tractors and RTGs. Fleetview is an addition to Kalmar’s range of automation tools which includes Smartrail, an auto steering and container position verification system, and Smartpath, a real-time container position verification system.
