MAERSK MONOPOLY FEARED

Existing companies at the port of Tema have called upon Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority to scrap an agreement that it has with a foreign consortium, Meridian Port Services (MPS), to operate the container terminal.
They are worried that the two leading shareholders in MPS, Maersk and Bollore, are establishing a monopoly, which not only negatively impacts on their own businesses, but also on those of other shipping lines using the port.
