Paradip builds two berths
01 Apr 2007
India’s Paradip port is to issue tenders within the next three months for the construction of two new berths; one to handle iron ore exports, while the other will concentrate on imported coking coal.
Construction, which will be taken forward as build-operate-transfer contracts, will be completed within two to three years, thereby increasing total port capacity by 20m tonnes. Total cost of the operation, which includes the provision of handling equipment, has been estimated at €154m ($204.8m).
