Comoros dragged into 21st century
01 Jul 2007
Gulfcom, the joint-venture put together by Sharjah-based stevedore Gulftainer to manage Moroni Port in the Comoros Islands, has made drastic changes to working practices.
Twenty-four hour working is now the norm, with the port open seven days a week without additional charges being made to shipping lines.
In addition, two 120-ton barges have been put into service to serve vessels having to drop anchor in deeper water than is available within the port. A new tugboat will also be put into service.
