New Galveston hub plan

The Port Authority of Houston and Galveston has signed an agreement to build a new container terminal on Pelican Island, which is situated to the north of Galveston Island.
Port expansion will deliver extra capacity for Panama Canal traffic
Construction, which is scheduled for completion before 2015, will allow the port to handle anticipated additional flows of traffic through the Panama Canal.
