Humber ports top UK ranking

The UK’s Humber Ports can lay claim to the greatest share of UK world tonnage, beating all other UK ports complexes, according to the government’s UK Maritime Statistics 2006.
Collectively Grimsby and Immingham, Hull, Goole, Rivers Hull and Humber, Rivers Trent and Ouse recorded a 16.2% of UK world trade tonnage in 2006, an increase from 15.5 per cent in 2005.
In terms of throughput, the figure for 2006
was 91.1m tonnes, an increase from 88.4m tonnes in 2005.
