“Straddle Carriers complement our product range,” said Konecranes’ Director Jarmo Juntunen, noting that a core group of 12 German experts had transferred to Konecranes as part of the deal.

“The principle used in the manufacture of straddle carriers is the same as for RTG cranes. We do the final assembly in-house and use our sub-contractors for the remainder of the work,” explains another director at the company, Jyrki Melaanvuo, noting that six years ago Konecranes had acquired the service business of Noell, thus giving Konecranes both straddle carrier service expertise and a spare parts service.
