APM under the cosh in Apapa
02 Apr 2008
The APM Terminals facility at Apapa in Nigeria has been accused of various shortcomings by the Lagos-based legal firm Vin Osakwe & Co, which has sent a petition to the federal government in complaint.
The claim centres on the handling and transfer of containers from the port to bonded inland terminals.
Current practice, argues the firm, results in perpetual delays, which in turn hamper customs procedures and the subsequent release of containers to clients. In turn, this is generating additional demurrage costs for shipping lines.
