Birth of American ports goliath

AIG Highstar Capital, owner of and investor in Ports America, MTC Holdings and Amports, has restructured its business to create a single management structure for the entire enterprise.
The so-called Ports America Group will manage Ports America and MTC Holdings under a single management team. Amports will operate as a division of the group, but will retain its existing management structure.
With operations in 49 ports and 95 terminals in the US, Mexico and Chile, the Ports America Group is America's largest port and terminal operating company, handling over 12 million teu and 3m tonnes of general cargo.
