Manzanillo ‘fastest growth’ claim

The Mexican port of Manzanillo handled 1.5m containers
in 2007 compared with 1.25m containers in 2006, equivalent to growth of 20%. These
figures have led the port to claim its place among the three fastest growing
ports in the world.
The container terminal, which is operated by SSA, is being expanded from 150,000 sq m to 260,000 sq m, which will boost capacity to 2m teu by March.
