Punta Colonet tender on the cards

Mexico's Transport and Communications Secretariat has confirmed it is preparing a tender for construction of a new deep seaport at Punta Colonet in Baja California.

Officials added that this port project will be the main priority for state investment in infrastructure in 2008.
The port will be able to accommodate up to 8m teu/year, the majority
will be transhipped to ports in the US. However, this implies an
improved rail connection between the port and the city of Los Angeles.
