Georgia goes green ahead of the US pack
26 Jun 2008
Georgia Ports Authority has converted its fleet of yard cranes, trucks and other equipment to cleaner-burning ultra-low-sulphur diesel (ULSD) and cut emissions by an additional 10% - two years ahead of federal mandates.
GPA is expected to use around 2.5m gallons of ULSD in the coming year, avoiding the release of hundreds of tons of nitrogen oxide, carbon and particulates.
March saw GPA's completion of a six-year crane electrification program that will conserve more than 1.5 million gallons of diesel fuel annually.
