Liebherr's UK family grows

Liebherr is to boost its UK presence with three key contracts for its container cranes.

Two rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes are due for Associated British Ports' Grimsby and Immingham facility, bringing the number working at the facility to four.

Liebherr will also be returning to Liverpool in late 2008 for the supply of a ship-to-shore gantry crane. The contract was placed by Mersey Docks and Harbour Company (MDHC) and the crane will be delivered to the Royal Seaforth Container Terminal at Liverpool Port, joining five previously installed Liebherr cranes at the port.

Following on the UK theme, a contract for the supply of two additional megamax ship-to-shore gantry cranes has been signed by DP World for Southampton Container Terminal. The cranes are scheduled for delivery in autumn 2009, and will join the other previously ordered megamax cranes which are currently being installed at the port.

Further afield, Liebherr has signed a contract with Luka Koper for the supply of two super post-panamax container handling cranes.
