Varna city council in Bulgaria has allocated a 17.5 hectare plot of land for the development of a new container terminal at the port.
This will cost an estimated €500m ($779.1m) and is scheduled for completion by 2014.
Partial finance has been sourced from the Japan Bank for International Corporation, which is stumping up €226m ($352.2m) for the development of box terminals at both Varna and Bourgas.
