Major new port slated for Nigeria

The government of Nigeria's Akwa Ibom state has reached an agreement with the Dersko Marine group to build a $5.2bn new port.

The project will go ahead as a private-public partnership encompassing companies from Singapore, the US, South Korea and Japan.

The port is to have two terminals with a combined 15m tonne capacity for handling general cargo.
