Piraeus Port Authority has lost its legal challenge to have ruled illegal a strike by dockworkers protesting their opposition to the privatisation of container terminals in Greek ports.
Piraeus port authority feels the pressure from workers
The judge upheld the constitutional right of the workers to strike. Strikes at the end of March severely added to congestion at the ports.
Piraeus Port authority has set a deadline of 9 May for bids to be received for the container terminal concession, while that at Thessaloniki has been set for 14 May.
Greek ports are already deeply in debt and last year had to ask for budget subsidies from the government.
