Spanish stevedores seize labour company control
11 May 2008
Stevedoring companies have taken equity control of 19 of the 36 Port Labour companies in Spain, which will become Economic Interest Port Groups (APIEs).
The Port Labour companies, which were originally set up at the end of the 1980s to manage stevedoring services, now have fully private capital in line with the 2003 Ports Law.
It is not yet known if port labour companies at the other ports will follow suit.
