Australia is considering plans to construct a new 100m tonnes coal export terminal, its first in 25 years.
Queensland state premier has set her sights on the black stuff
If approved, the nation could boost shipments of coal by as much as 40%, according to local sources.
Queensland state premier Anna Bligh is reviewing options that include construction
of a coal port near Shoalwater Bay on the central Queensland coast.
Ms Bligh said that the project, which includes the development of three mines, is expected to create “around 2,200 jobs during construction and some 760 permanent jobs during operation”.
