What you need to know about the role

As Marine Operations Manager you will be responsible for maintaining all records that are required by British Steel, Port Authority, MCA and DEFRA regarding the marine operation at Immingham Bulk Terminal (IBT) and be prepared to present all required records to auditors.

You will represent British Steel at Port Authority meetings including sunk dredge channel meetings, Group Terminal Liaison and environmental meetings. You will also collate all the required paperwork, ensure the mooring plans are suitable for IBT discharge and sent to vessel and arrange berthing/sailing times with agents and linesmen.

Within the role, you will also be expected to manage the stevendore damage remediation process as well as carrying out hydrographic surveys. There is scope to grow the role to cover and include vessel vetting and suitability checking for all vessel traffic handled at IBT.

What we need to know about you

In order to undertake this role, it is essential that you hold a Master Mariner Class 1 Certificate with seagoing experience as a senior officer on a large bulk carrier.

You will be experienced in the safe and efficient discharge of bulk cargoes with knowledge of hydrographic surveying. You will also be required to undertake training to operate the British Steel procurement system (SAP) in the role of a requistioner therefore you are required to be computer literate.

Excellent communications skills are essential, as you will be expected to engage with both internal and external stakeholders. A full understanding of ISO 9001 requirements regarding the safe unloading of bulk carriers is required.
