Senior Manager Marine Operations

Applicants are invited to apply for the above vacancy within the Marine department, based at the Port of Great Yarmouth.

Role Purpose: To lead the Port's marine operations to ensure navigational safety including pilotage, port control, hydrography, dredging and delivering the statutory powers and compliance duties on behalf of the Group Harbour Master. Supporting port customer service, new business initiatives and local and Group marine projects. To provide leadership and management for 20+ marine personnel.

This role will include the following responsibilities:

-Lead the Port's marine operations and marine services consistently across the department, supporting all requirements as directed by the Port Director and Group Harbour Master

-Ensure the delivery of marine objectives and marine safety and KPI's, in line with Peel Ports Group strategy

-Be a role model for all marine personnel, demonstrate leadership behaviours, set standards and inspire others to achieve the departments objectives

-Develop effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders across the Group including other Senior Managers, Group central service departments, Port customers, statutory bodies and port user groups

-Drive local and Group safety/operational improvement initiatives, ensuring all activities are carried out in compliance with agreed quality standards and regulations

-Exceed customer expectations, actively promoting Peel Ports Group and support the Port Director in new commercial opportunities

Applicants interested in this role should ideally possess the following skills and experience:

-Proven experience in a marine operations management role, ideally within UK ports, harbour authority, vessel operations, pilotage or offshore operations

-A Master Mariner or equivalent such as Royal Navy with Command and vessel handling experience, or experience as harbour master/deputy or Pilot would be beneficial

-Previous experience of delivering major change/project initiatives, safety and compliance management and development of management system procedures

-Able to demonstrate proven experience in delivering improved productivity and financial performance initiatives into an operational environment

-Ability to handle and prioritise multiple tasks, projects and change in a fast moving, challenging operational environment

-Good commercial acumen, with the ability to highlight opportunities and manage risk

-A full valid Driving Licence
