Resurgence in port investment benefits Cavotec

A "continued resurgence in investment in port infrastructure" has prompted a flurry of orders for Cavotec cable reels, shore-to-ship power systems, MoorMaster automated mooring units and Panzerbelt cable protection systems, according to the company.

Cavotec's Ports & Maritime market unit recently received one of the largest orders to date for its innovative vacuum-based mooring technology, MoorMaster. Under the multi-million euro project, Cavotec will manufacture, engineer, install and commission 24 MoorMaster MM200C units, for use on an exposed berth at a Mediterranean Sea port. The system will deliver productivity and utilisation increases previously unattainable with traditional mooring methods.

MoorMaster has performed more than 40,000 mooring operations, with a 100% safety record, at ferry, bulk handling, ro-ro, container and lock applications around the world.

Cable reels are also among the most in-demand product across the market as customers look to improve safety and operational efficiency. Cavotec has received orders during the first six months of 2011 for cable reels in Abu Dhabi, Australia, China, Colombia, India, Japan and the Netherlands.
