Maher Terminals LLC has placed orders with Kalmar for 27 straddle carriers
US terminal operators, Maher Terminals LLC in New Jersey, has placed an order for 27 straddle carriers with Finnish cargo-handling specialist Kalmar, part of Cargotec.

The company is renewing and expanding its straddle carrier fleet with environmentally responsible diesel-electric power utilising US EPA-mandated Tier 4 Final emission controls.
Richard Pope, Kalmar’s manager of port crane sales in North America, said: “Maher Terminals is a long-standing customer of ours and we value the relationship greatly.”
“When the industry is in transition driven by rapid technological, environmental and economic developments, we are committed to provide state-of-the-art solutions,” he added.
The Kalmar ESC350 straddle carriers are rated for 50mt with twin 20ft containers or 40mt with single containers.
The order has been booked into Cargotec’s 2015 third quarter and delivery is scheduled for spring 2016 when the carriers will arrive fully-assembled.
