Busan New Port secures Maersk calls

01 Sep 2007

The fortunes of DP World flagship facility Busan Newport (PNC) have improved with confirmation that the world’ s  largest containerline is moving in.

Eight out of the 10 Maersk Line services that currently call at Busan North Port will migrate to PNC, bringing an anticipated volume of more than 700,000 teu per annum to the port.

Meanwhile, it is hoped that the opening of a logistics centre at the port will further vitalise the port. Busa International Distribution Center, located in phase 2 of the Distripark adjacent to the North Container Terminal at Busan Newport, went into operation in July.

It is estimated that the distribution centre will create 30,000 teu annually by assembling and processing liquor products and furniture shipped from Japanese companies, and by assorting and labeling products for export to China and Japan.
