Chennai and Ennore merger mooted

India's Shipping Ministry is considering the merger of Chennai and Ennore ports, a move prompted by a High Court decision to force Chennai to transfer the handling of coal and iron ore to Ennore.
Ennore is currently owned by Chennai Port Trust and the government of India.
