Johor/PTP merger off

Plans to rationalise operations at the ports of Tanjung Pelepas and Johor, which are controlled by MMC Corporation, have fallen through.
However, in anticipation that container traffic would be switched from Johor to PTP, dredging work had started at the latter to create new berths 13 and 14.
The need for these has now been put into question, given that the existing installation is working at 78% of capacity and no additional container traffic is expected to switch operations to PTP in the near future.
