Pelindo II plea to change tack
10 Dec 2011
The Indonesian Stevedoring Companies' Association has asked that state port operator Pelindo II abandon its current contract with PT Kaluku Marítima Utama to operate berths 201-203 at the port of Tanjung Priok.
Under this arrangement, stevedoring companies are not authorised to handle quayside cargo. As a result, many vessels are prepared to queue to enter rival Terminal III.
A total of 30 stevedoring companies are lobbying to have this arrangement changed as a matter of urgency.
