Global super-boxship fleet swells

In 2012, 42 new container vessels with a capacity of more than 13,000 teu are due to enter service, which compares with 22 similar vessels that commenced operations in 2011.
This brings the global fleet of 13,000 teu+ vessels to about 100.
All are deployed on Asia-Europe routes, where rates were cut by more than 50% in 2011 due to overcapacity.
