LNG disaster prevention facility for Europe
Training company, Falck, is developing the first Northwest European training facility for disaster prevention involving LNG at Maasvlakte at the Port of Rotterdam.
The Port of Rotterdam Authority and the joint fire service in the port area are working closely with Falck to develop the training facility.
From September 2014, fire crews, employees and members of company emergency response teams in the chemical and petrochemical industry, the road haulage and water transport sector and storage and stevedoring companies will be able to practise and train in a realistic environment to combat disasters involving LNG.
This comes at a time when LNG use is on the up and investments in the production, storage and transport of LNG are especially increasing in the Netherlands. The Port of Rotterdam says this ‘green growth’ development is of strategic importance.
Falck is a specialist in providing advice and training in the field of disaster and accident prevention in the industrial and public sector.
