GCC supports Kuwait’s Mubarak project
06 Jan 2012
The Gulf Cooperation Council has spoken out in support of Kuwait in its development of Mubarak port, which it is taking forward despite objections from neighbouring Iraq.
GCC leaders stressed that the port is being built entirely on Kuwaiti land and within its territorial waters.
Iraq's main objection is that Mubarak port will divert significant traffic away from its own maritime facilities and therefore reduce trade.
