Liebherr's Turkish Delight

01 Apr 2004

Turkish State Railways (TCDD) has ordered two Liebherrs for its port of Mersin - the first Turkish order for the company.

BCT Gdynia urgently needed to increase its container handling capacity and crane heightening proved to be the fastest and most costeffective way to go about it, especially considering that the machines are reasonably new and still in excellent condition.

Crane outreach is 42 metres, rail span 18 metres and backreach 18 metres.

Liebherr has recently completed delivery of a super-post-Panamax crane to Point Lisas in Trinidad within 12 months and another Panamax unit to Marine Terminals Ltd. in Dublin within 9 months, both over two months ahead of the agreed contractual delivery schedule.
