Consultations come to a close
Trade unions FNV and CNV Vakmensen, together with Rotterdam container companies and the Port of Rotterdam Authority, have concluded consultations on employment in the container industry.
A crucial outcome of the negotiations, the companies involved will offer a job security guarantee until July 1, 2020 to employees who already had an employment contract for an indefinite period by January 1, 2015, and who are covered by a Contributor License Agreement (CLA) of the corresponding company.
Furthermore, it has been agreed that the Port Senior Fit Scheme is to be extended to employees aged 60 years old and that the 120 employees of ailing Rotterdam Port Services (RPS) will be offered a customised solution.
The companies and the Port Authority have come to mutual agreements on the financing of these measures, which includes an amount in the order of €20 to 30 million.
The trade unions will now present the outcome of the negotiations to their members. Due to holidays, it could take up until the second half of August to complete the member consultations.
