About Taiwan International Ports Corporation
Taiwan is a major maritime hub on the world’s ocean shipping routes and, because of its strategic location, it has developed into a transshipment hub for East Asian near- and ocean-going ships. In the last few years Asian ports are up against intense rivalry as a result of the economic growth of China and Southeast Asia as well as the expanding trade network in Greater East Asia. Taiwan’s continued status as an economic powerhouse in the Asia-Pacific area is largely due to the port complex’s inherent advantages and ongoing efforts to improve service efficiency.
Ever since its founding in 2012, TIPC has managed seven international commercial ports—Keelung, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Hualien, Taipei, Suao, and Anping ports—while maintaining a culture of professionalism and entrepreneurship. Two domestic commercial ports, the Port of Budai and the Port of Penghu, are also under its management.
TIPC promotes the various businesses of port operation while also introducing innovative thinking and multi-faceted operation capabilities to strengthen the efficiency and flexibility of port operation, promote the development of the international commercial port area and the surrounding industries, enhance the international competitiveness of Taiwan’s ports, consolidate the position of the international commercial port as a maritime transportation hub, and to become the best port operation group in the world.
