It will be capable of handling 9m tonnes of cargo annually, although this will be extended to 15m tonnes depending on demand.

Silos de Tarragona has asked permission from the port authority to build a new 50,000-tonne grain silo. The company, which handles between 1.5m tonnes and 2m tonnes on dry bulk each year, is struggling to cope with its present 200,000 tonne silo storage capacity. Last year, 300,000 tonnes of potential traffic had to be turned away because a lack of capacity. The new silo could cost up to ¢4m.
