AMP, or ‘cold ironing’, involves vessels turning off their engines while in port, and connecting to shore-side electricity, helping to reduce pollution in port areas and surrounding communities.
Cavotec, who engineered the connection, expects interest in AMP will continue to rise – fuelled by rising costs and environmental concerns.
