Throughput from the company’s container terminal operations in Asia increased 28% to 1,288,937 teu in the first six months of 2010 over the same period in 2009.
The group’s container terminal operations in Asia, (around 64% of ICTSI’s total volume in this period) demonstrated exceptional performance with all operating terminals registering double-digit increases.
This covers a slight fall of 1% in the share from the America’s toward ICTSI’s total volumes, to 24%. The company’s container terminal operations in the Americas grew by 23% to 484,724 teu in the first half of 2010 – but much of this is Latin American growth with Tecon Suape, SA (TSSA) in Brazil taking the star role with an impressive 48% increase in volume.
On the financial side, the company’s net equity-holders income was up 83% year on year to US$42.4m due to an upsurge in revenues, modest increase in cash operating expense, and lower effective tax rate.
