Connecting Europe Facility: €50 billion boost

EU – The European Commission has tabled a plan foreseeing EUR 31.7 bln for developing the Trans-European Network of Transport (TEN-T). The plan sets off new guidelines, determining which projects are to be implement into TEN-T, and establishes the ‘Connecting Europe Facility’, that defines procedures for providing EU financial aid to TEN-T.

The plan is dual-layered, splitting TEN-T into a comprehensive and core network. The first consists of all existing and planned infrastructure meeting the requirements of the new guidelines and is to be ready by the end of 2050 at latest, while the latter focuses on the most important parts with highest European added value and should be ready by the end of 2030.
