The funding amount rose from $15m to $25m and was noted in the final passage of CS/CS/HB 7061.
“As chairman of the Florida Ports Council and president of one of the largest ports in the nation I am extremely encourage by passage of increased funding for port projects,” said Paul Anderson, president and CEO of Port Tampa Bay.
He added: “We continue to see first-hand the direct connection between investment in port infrastructure and the opportunity to further our economic impact to the state and our community.”
The FSTED programme is a state and local financing programme of priority port transportation projects., in hope to improve port trade and commercial endeavours and port transportation modes.
Mr Anderson concluded: “All of us are deeply committed to making Florida an even stronger gateway for global trade, and we thank the Florida House of Representatives and the Florida Senate for their diligence and action.”
