For the third consecutive year, the port has chosen not to increase the charges laid out in the Port Tariff.
“By doing so, we are seeking to boost growth in industry, shipping and port operations,” said Magnus Kårestedt, chief executive of the Gothenburg Port Authority.
“At the same time, we want to be part of the effort to curb rising logistics costs for our stakeholders.”
The charges, which are made on all vessels calling at the port, are based on vessel type and gross tonnage, and are used to fund activities such as traffic information, port safety and fairway maintenance.
Mr Kårestedt said that the organisation has managed to dodge the need for tariff increases through good cost control.
Currently, the port operates a port charge discount system for vessels with good environmental performance, with ships opting to change to run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving a further discount at 20% per call.
The port has also announced that it is extending its discount period for cruise ship calls, with this time frame now running to the end of December.
