The impact of regulation on the complex and dynamic ports and shipping sector is a matter constantly under scrutiny, and will be so at Coastlink 2027 when Rebel Group’s Johan-Paul Verschuure explores the issue.

He will be speaking in the session Policy into Practice: Regulation Shaping the Future, which will examine European port and transport policy, climate legislation, ETS, emissions reporting and regulatory developments influencing ports, shipping and logistics operations.

As Senior Port & Transport Economist and Director at Rebel Ports and Logistics, Verschuure has a dual background as a port engineer and financial-economic specialist, providing him with a commercial, financial and technical perspective.

He has particular experience in the short sea sector across Northwest Europe and the UK, with recent studies around the port of Amsterdam, Zeebrugge, and a Brexit impact study for ABP.

At the recent Breakbulk Summit, Verschuure highlighted the EU Ports Strategy and Industrial Maritime Strategy as two major policy frameworks influencing the future of European maritime logistics, with potential complications arising from different implementation schedules across EU member states, and alignment with IMO standards.

His contribution to the 25th Coastlink Conference in Rotterdam, 14-15 April 2027, could come with great value attached. To book a place and find out more, simply click here
