The company operates an established box terminal in the port and wants to invest $150m on expanding and upgrading it.
In addition to the president, the meeting was also attended by María Eugenia Vidal, the governor of Buenos Aires province, and Guillermo Dietrich, the Minister of Transport.
The Philippines-based operator signed a 30-year concession for the terminal in October 2008. However, the Consorcio de Gestion del Puerto La Plata (CGPLP), which manages the port, also made it possible to extend this for a further 30 years.
ICTSI subsidiary Tecplata is building the container terminal, which is slated to open in September 2019 to coincides with the inauguration of access roads to the facility.
