Etienne Rocher, managing director of APM Tangier, said recently that performance levels at the port “already compare with those of longer-established, fully operational terminals”. She added that it was a remarkable achievement, which rested on an almost totally local team.
In March, APM Terminals Tangier took delivery of its last three super post panamax ship-to-shore cranes from Chinese-based Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery (ZPMC). The remaining 11 Eco-RTGs on order for the terminal are scheduled for delivery by the end of May.
In April, ZPMC and APM Terminals finalised a framework for the supply of rubber-tyred gantry cranes for the expansion of the worldwide APM network. APM has already purchased more than 200 cranes from the Shanghai-based manufacturer.
