A package has been assembled to reduce port costs in Hong Kong. It is hoped that the measures, which include cuts in anchorage fees and more anchorage buoys to reduce harbour congestion, will be introduced early in 2006. The proposals are hoped to build Hong Kong’s appeal as a hub port, particularly for intraAsian transhipment traffic.
