Premier Peter Beattie announced that HPH won the bid for the sought-after Port of Brisbane’s new container berths after a tender process that included incumbent operators Patrick Corporation (Toll Holdings) and DP World.
“In percentage terms, the Port of Brisbane is Australia’s fastest growing container port and having a global player like HPH on board is a welcome addition during this time of rapid expansion,”Mr Beattie said. HPH group managing director John Meredith indicated that the company will work with the union, which had publicly opposed the arrival of a third stevedore in Brisbane.
