Due to commence trading in early 2012, Bremore Ireland Port (BIP) is situated between Dublin and the town of Drogheda, adjacent to the Dublin-Belfast rail line and the M1 Dublin-Belfast motorway.
The new container facility, with annual capacity of 350,000 teu in the first phase, will help address Ireland’s forecast container capacity shortage. Freight volumes through Irelands’ east coast facilities have grown at 6% per annum over the last 15 years as the economy has boomed, stretching facilities at Dublin to breaking point.
DPC spent most of 2007 refusing to name Hutchison, despite strong connections between HPH and the appointed developers.
BIP is being developed by DPC in partnership with Castle Market Holdings and funded through the partners’ equity and borrowings. DPC is the majority shareholder in BIP.
