IDB bankrolling Santa Catarina Tecon

The Interamerican Development Bank has approved a loan of $144m to Itapoá Terminais Portuá rios SA, which is building Brazils first entirely private port of the northern coast of Santa Catarina state. 

This is equivalent to 70% of the total cost of the project and is being secured on revenue from the eventual business.

The remaining 30% is being provided by shareholders Portinvest Participações and Hamburg Süd. Operations are slated to commence in the first quarter of 2009, with a capacity of 300,000 teu/year.
