HPUK gains carbon award

Carbon footprint reduction at Hutchison Ports UK has stemmed from both “small actions” from employees as well as significant investment, according to the companys David Gledhill.

The company, which runs Thamesport, Harwich International and the Port of Felixstowe, has been awarded certification by the UK’s Carbon Trust Standard for reducing its carbon emissions by 8.2% between 2007 and 2009.

The Carbon Trust introduced the Standard in June 2008. It is awarded to companies that demonstrate good carbon reporting, management and reductions year-on-year.
